The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has implemented a refresher requirement for those requesting to renew their Security Officer licence; anyone wishing to renew their licence after April 1st, 2025, must have completed this certification.

The Course is based on 1 Module:

 1: Principles of working in the private security industry (Refresher).

Course Details

Unit 1: Principles of working in the private security industry (Refresher) will cover the following topics

• Effective search procedures to conduct search on people and their properties.
• Vulnerable people safe.
• Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat.

Assessment Details

Unit 1: Principles of working in the private security industry (Refresher)

• Type of Assessment: On Screen or paper based externally set and externally marked MCQ exam made up of 28 questions.
• Length of Assessment: 45 minutes.
• Number of Questions: 28 questions.
• Pass mark: 70 % ( 20/35)
• Assessment Availability: On Demand.
• First Assessment availability: November 2024.
• Resit Arrangements: Unlimited at the discretion of centres.
